Sam Coulson
Sam Coulson (born 1987 in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire) is an English guitarist. After becoming noticed on the video hosting website YouTube, Coulson went on to replace Steve Howe on guitars in Asia in January 2013 after the latter decided to pursue other projects. ==Career== Coulson made his debut on the video hosting website YouTube in 2007, sharing videos of himself playing songs on the electric guitar. His playing attracted the attention of the famous American guitarist Paul Gilbert, who invited him to be a guest instructor for the Great Guitar Escape he created in July 2012, as well as seeing him being invited on stage to sit in with American blues musician Walter Trout in October 2012.〔https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3H_2QBka8U〕 This publicity would lead to Coulson joining the British rock band Asia. When Asia's guitarist Steve Howe retired from the band in January 2013 in order to pursue other projects, Coulson was selected as his replacement, despite being decades younger than his bandmates. According to John Wetton, the band had a "list of favourites" for Howe's replacement; one of these favourites was unable to take the role, but recommended Coulson.〔https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRmaaKRMUnY〕 Coulson has, so far, worked with Asia on their latest studio album, ''Gravitas'', released on 25 March 2014 (25.3.14).
